This set fits CHF 10" systems with flat-top cartridges — the original 10" format. If your cartridges have a raised spigot on top (later GEN 2 systems), this set won't fit — use the identification guide, or email a photo of your setup to joe@properwater.com.au and we'll confirm the right filters before you spend a cent.

A true refillable cartridge — screw-off end caps, not glued — supplied with a pre-measured bag of NSF-grade ion exchange resin that softens your water by reducing calcium and magnesium. Keep the cartridge: next year you just refill it, and a spare means you can pre-fill on the bench and swap in seconds.
Standard ($140 set): coconut carbon block, 5 micron — reduces chlorine, taste and odour. Chloramine ($170 set): catalytic coconut carbon, 0.5 micron — reduces chloramine as well as chlorine, taste and odour, manufacturer-rated for chloramine reduction. It comes down to how your water supply is disinfected. Perth and most WA supplies use chlorine — the standard carbon version handles it well. Many east-coast supplies — including much of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and surrounding regions — use chloramine, a more stable disinfectant that standard carbon barely touches. For chloraminated water, choose the chloramine version: its 0.5 micron catalytic carbon block is manufacturer-rated for chloramine reduction. Not sure which you have? Every set includes the refillable cartridge and a pre-measured resin bag, so you always have what you need — and because the cartridge is reusable, you build up spares. Many customers pre-fill the spare on the bench so the annual change takes seconds.
Around every 12 months for a typical household — sooner if flow drops noticeably or taste returns. Sediment and carbon are replaced; the resin cartridge is simply refilled.
