NAC stands for Nucleation Assisted Crystallization. Rather than softening water by removing minerals, it conditions it — turning dissolved calcium into harmless aragonite microcrystals that flow through pipes, elements and glassware without bonding. The minerals stay in your water; only their ability to form scale is removed. No salt, no wastewater, no electricity.
If you want that soft-water feel on skin and hair, traditional resin softening still does that — NAC deliberately leaves the minerals in. If your goal is protecting pipes, hot water systems and appliances with minimal upkeep and a long media life (typically 5–7 years), NAC is the better long-term choice.
